Solo, duet, ensemble contest for brass and percussion.
Due to demand, the contest is now open to ALL brass and percussion players.
Entry is free for players associated with a GBBA member band and £2.50 for non-members per entry.
The GBBA are keen to support its members and the brass band movement in keeping the spirit of banding alive. GBBA hope that this free, friendly festival and community competition will encourage you to keep playing during lockdown and enjoy the music we make and love. Keep playing music. Keep banding going.
Contest entry is FREE for players associated with a GBBA member band, and £2.50 for non-GBBA members.
Entries are open from 1st November to 14th December 2020 and should follow the entry guidelines. Send entries to glosbba@gmail.com or via WeTransfer.
Payments should be received before the entry deadline.
Non-members will receive an email after their submission to arrange payment transfer via BACS.
There is something for everyone with 7 categories, and maximum playing time applies:

Class A 11 and Under Solo 5 minutes

Class B 12 to 14 Solo 5 minutes
-
Class C 15 to 18 Solo 5 minutes

Class D Open Percussion Solo 5 minutes
-
Class E Open Slow Melody Solo 5 minutes
-
Class F Open Air Varie/Technical Solo 7 minutes

Class G Open Ensemble (Duet, Q’tet, etc) 7 minutes
Prizes will be awarded to winner and runner-up of each category:
Redeemable Music Vouchers 1st Prize £20
2nd Prize £15
Class A & B - Big Shiny Brass
Class C to G - Wright & Round
Adjudication by Dr. Brett Baker. All entrants will receive feedback.
The Festival opens for entries on 1st November and
closes on 14th December 2020.
All entries will be shown via GBBA Facebook page and YouTube channel
once adjudication has taken place.

Own Choice March & Test Piece Contest
Towards the end of each year, the GBBA run an annual Own Choice March & Test Piece Contest that is open to all bands.
The Own Choice contest is split into four classes:
Class A - Championship and First Section Bands - £400 prize
Class B - Second & Third Section Bands - £350 prize
Class C - Fourth Section Bands - £300 prize
Class D - Youth, Training, & Unregistered Bands - £50 prize
Should there be two bands or less entered and competing in Classes A, B, and C come the contest, the prize money will be £200, £160, and £135 respectively for these classes. Class D prize money will remain the same and there are no restrictions on the number of entries.

All Saints' Academy, Cheltenham
NOTE: The postcode to the venue will take you to a rear locked gate so please use the road address.
Entry:
Opening 2nd February 2020
Closing 1st October 2020
Entry fee:
GBBA Members: £100 for Classes A to C, and £25 for Class D
Non-members: £110 for Classes A to C, and £40 for Class D

The deadline for entries is 1st October 2020.
