Virtual Youth Solo Contest - get involved!

Calling all young brass players (19 and Under)! WSB is a charitable brass band organisation based in the small market town of Wantage, Oxfordshire (UK). The organisation currently comprises of seven bands, possibly making WSB the largest brass band organisation in the country. One of our biggest objectives is to give children and young people the opportunity to perform to large audiences. What bigger audience than that of social media! During this uncertain time, we are making it our mission to continue engaging with our community and young musicians.

We are now taking this one step further and launching our VIRTUAL YOUTH SOLO CONTEST!

"It's so very important that young players continue to have platforms to showcase their music making. This is something that happens regularly at WSB and so we wanted to help others from around the country, and further, by giving them this fantastic opportunity." - Paul Holland

We are delighted to have Yamaha Artist and international brass band conductor and adjudicator Russell Gray as our adjudicator.

The deadline for entries is Sunday 14th June

Videos will be posted on our FB and Twitter channels from Monday 8th June.

The top three placings for each category will be announced on Sunday 21st June at 8pm on WSB Sounds - our live 'podcast' style show which broadcasts every Sunday evening during lockdown.

It would be great if you could share this far and wide! To your parents, young brass players, associations with local organisations, nearby amateur groups and just about anyone who you think this might benefit!

We have launched this on our social media channels too: FACEBOOK

Please watch our launch video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_S7CnwJmtU

There are no entry fees and this is simply in place to give young people something to work towards during the next month.

For more information please visit www.youthcontest.wantageband.org where you can find our rules and entry form.

Kind regards,
