Tewkesbury Town Band is looking for an enthusiastic musician to be its next Musical Director. This may be either in a full capacity or initially as an assistant conductor, working alongside Nigel Morgan with the anticipation that the right candidate will take over the role of full MD in the foreseeable future.
Both roles will be an opportunity to gain excellent hands on conducting experience working with all aspects of rehearsal and concert planning, and performance. Alternatively, the role may be filled by someone who has more extensive previous experience and a desire to bring that to the band.
The band, which celebrates a culture of diversity and inclusion, is looking for a conductor who has a good knowledge of repertoire and is eager to share their enthusiasm for brass banding with the players and our audiences. Being able to communicate and stimulate the players in a positive way and create an atmosphere of fun and enjoyment with the band’s audiences is considered more desirable than purely an academic music background.
We are committed to safeguarding in line with Brass Bands England's BandSafe guidelines and therefore a DBS check will be required for the successful applicant.
For further information or to apply for the position please contact our Secretary on 07904 859249 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please submit a draft programme for a 2 hour concert (2 x 45 mins) to include the Fourth Section test piece for 2020, Neverland by Christopher Bond, with your application.
