GBBA Entertainment Contest Opens


GBBA is delighted to reinstate its Entertainment Contest on Sunday 21st April 2024, following the success of the Annual Own Choice Contests.

Open Adjudication will be by Chris King, Chair of the Music Commission of the European Brass Band Association, Treasurer of the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators, and who conducted the Friary Brass Band for over 18 years, bringing them into the top 20 bands in the world. Chris is now MD of the Wantage Band, one of the largest band organisations in the UK. Chris has judged at many Regional Championships, a National Finals, Brass in Concert, Wychavon, and multiple Elite Sections at SIDDIS, in Norway.

The Contest, to be held at Chosen Hill School, Churchdown, Gloucester, will consist of 20- minute playing time to include a solo. David Hayward will be on hand to compere.

The competition will be in two classes:

Class A Registered Bands

Class B Youth, Training and Unregistered Bands.

It is hoped bands will benefit from the new venue which includes a stage and large apron for the entertainment factor.
