GBBA Own Choice & March Contest Returns

Following a successful Brass Festival in April at their new Cheltenham venue, GBBA announces the return of their popular Own Choice Test Piece & March Contest.

Sunday 20th November will see David Thornton adjudicating. As well as a renowned Euphonium Soloist David is well-known in education, tutoring at RNCM and Chetham's and University of Huddersfield.

For 2016 GBBA have moved to All Saints' Academy, Cheltenham. A modern school situated only 11 minutes from J11 M5, All Saints' has excellent ground floor facilities including a performance hall seating 300, 9 assembly rooms, a warm up facility, large cafeteria and seating area and ample parking for cars and coaches.

The contest offers 4 sections and in the spirit of encouraging all to play, GBBA contesting rules allow a maximum of 40 players including 4 borrowed of which 1 may be from the section above; Section D also allows the extra help of registered adult players.

  • Section 'A' - Championship & First Section Bands

  • Section 'B' - Second & Third Section Bands

  • Section 'C' - Fourth Section Bands

  • Section 'D' - Youth, Training & Unregistered Bands

As well as a host of trophies to be won across all classes, £200 is on offer to each Graded Section winner provided a minimum of 3 bands enter in the grade and a reduced entry fee to section D.
