Venue: Forest Theatre, RFDC, Five Acres, Coleford, Gloucestershire.
Adjudicator: Paul Holland
Compere: David Hayward

The GBBA Own Choice Contest always takes place towards the end of the year. Bands are required to perform a programme of one March followed by one Test Piece, of their own choice. Bands are grouped in sections A – D (A for Championship & First section bands, B for Second and Third section bands, C for Fourth section bands and D for unregistered and youth bands – all based on 2010 National Gradings) with all but Section D having closed adjudication. In addition to entering their own section, bands may enter a higher section provided they perform a separate programme and pay an additional fee.

NB: Although originally advertised as C. Brian Buckley, the adjudicator will now be Paul Holland. This change was requested by Brian in order to remove a potential conflict of interest. The GBBA thank Brian for his professionalism and integrity and hope to work with him at future events.

The GBBA Entertainment Contest takes place early in the year and bands are required to perform a programme of music, which must not exceed 20 minutes and which must include a solo piece. Bands are split into Section 1 (holding all Championship to Fourth section bands) and Section 2 (holding Unregistered and Youth bands). In an effort to encourage youth players to participate and gain contesting experience, there is no limit on the amount of players a band can include. However, the number of percussionists should be as required.
